A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
Belated congrats to Holli.
Just finished finished first round of going over the copy-edited version of the global warming book. Because of this being kind of complicated non-fiction, had to check very carefully. They had copy-edited around 80,000 words using track changes, and I to look over every change, and If I want to reverse a change or make a further one, I had to leave track changes on, and add a comment to tell them why. So basically the last week or so has been onerous task day. I still have to do a second round, printing it out with track changes hidden, and just make one last check for clumsiness - something much easier to do in printed form.
Before I get to the second round (which I have till 7th to complete) I think I will reward myself by writing a post on Grist about the original "Miracle on 34th Street" and efficient market theory. Then I totally will be able to say I did something geeky recently.
Good for you...hope the book does great.
Thanks. Jan 7 I enter the exciting world of indexing when I get the gallys.
hee, Jilli, smallish world - the person I linked you to on twitter is a writing group friend from Viable Paradise.
Ha! Very cool, Sox.
I just finished watching the intro to Scrivner video, and yeah, I think that's EXACTLY the sort of tool I need right now.
One of the headlines from today's Publishers Lunch newsletter:
Publishers Have Success Selling Print Books That Look More Like Beautiful Objects; Also, the Sky Is Blue
Heh. Get your snark on, PubLunch!

OMG Jilli Scrivener is DA BOMB. I'll never take on another big writing project without it, and I've only scratched the surface of what it can do. But just being able to have multiple screens open on the desktop has been a lifesaver.
Ah, the Internet, I just spent half an hour tracking down what the phase of the moon would be in Spain to have it a couple of hours above the eastern horizon at 2 AM.
