Since you guys have been around for so very much of this, I figured it apropos that I mention here that after nearly three years, 97,137 words, a lot of tears and angst and more left turns to Albuquerque than Bugs Bunny himself could conceive of, I have finally finished Between Here & Gone, my 1960s-set women's fiction manuscript.
Ima fall down go boom, now.
Yay, Barb! I'm so glad you finished it.
Yay Barb! That's awesome!
Thanks, guys-- I have to admit, I pretty much burst into tears as soon as I hit the final period on this one. There were times I seriously doubted I'd ever finish. Hell, there were times I thought this thing was going to kill me. (The way I feel right now, that last part is still up for debate.)
Whether it sells or not, I have no clue. The market for women's fiction, frankly, sucks. What's being bought is small-town Americana and generally, being bought from already established authors. Trying to break in right now is like banging your head against a brick wall.
So it may wind up being another one that gathers dust on the hard drive, but at least I finished.
Congratulations Barb! That's great news!
