I have an awkward question. Is it reasonable to just kinda poke a Beta Reader you haven't heard anything from in a month or a half or so just to know that they are still, you know, out there? I don't want to push people to hurry, because they are doing me a favor, but if it's just unreadable for them or something, well, I'd like to know.
My fear is that it would come across as pushy or make people feel bad, when "Dude, I'm just too busy" is perfectly okay. I just get worried that I'm not hearing anything because they don't want to tell me negative stuff, and I need to know about the negative.
That seems like an awful long time, Gud. Is it an exchange, or was this just someone who said, "Hey, I'll read it when I get a chance"?
No, not an exchange, hence the not wanting to be pushy. It's the "I'll read it when I get a chance" scenario. So, you know, I'd be happy with "I haven't had a chance, maybe after the Holiday season", or "I'm just not going to have time." I'd just like to know it's not from holding back.
I'm sort of 1 of 3 on exchanges.
Yay, Amy ! The idea of zombie teen romance makes me happy.
Eta: if it's me, Gud, I just haven't been able to get to it but I still hope to...
I'm referring to a couple of non-buffista beta readers, but thanks for letting me know.
I just know I'm behind and feel bad about it. But as to your actual question, I don't think it's bad form for you to ask if they are still reading it, there's always the possibility that an e-mail full of comments has gone astray somehow and if you don't ask, how will you know?
Please don't feel bad, I understand being busy, and you're doing me a favor.
Go Amy! Zombie romance has been ignored for too long in this world of vampire romance and werewolf romance!
Yay Amy, and woohoo!
And yay and woohoos for Barb, as well!
::stocks up on woohoos for Allyson::
Gud, I swear, it's on the top of my list. I just want to be able to get more than one chapter at a time back to you. It's so much easier to get a feel for the narrative flow with multiple chapters, but then it's finding the time to read. But soon, I promise. And I'm sorry for the lag, meanwhile.
Congrats to Barb & Amy! Go Buffista authors!
