Because books.
I think certain areas of publishing are still doing fine, and YA just happens to be one of them. And the areas of publishing that are suffering are the same ones that have been following that curve for a couple of years.
The economy does make a difference, of course, but publishing goes through this all the time. It's very cyclical.

Still on 22, I'm pretty sure I can finish tonight though. Then I need to knock out a critique and it's off to 23. I'm in the fun middle section now. Big events in the plot come pretty much every chapter now.
