I don't have any suspects looking over things except for the times my daughter sneaks down the basement after bedtime, sits on my desk, and starts reading what I writing.

My beta swap partner seems to have vanished of late after chapter one. She has neither responded to my second chapter or my critique of her second chapter. Only get one chapter, and no second chapter, it's like high school all over again.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Hoping to take a look at 9--11 tomorrow, Gud.

Thanks, Beverly.

I've started on 12, I'm still amazed by how much I'm having to cut from the rough draft.

I seem to be in a definite "This is all crap" phase. I think it's a combination of being in a part of the rough draft I'm unhappy with (which explains all the cutting I'm having to do right now) and thinking of problems in chapters I've already revised, at least I think they are fixable.

I'm sure I'll feel better about it once I get to a better part of the draft, but right now, ugh.

I'm plugging away on revised 12 still. I've had a loss of confidence though. I think the writing, especially in the revision, is too thin. I'm concerned that while the two most important characters are alright, that the supporting cast isn't well enough developed. I'm also concerned that the setting needs a bit more description too. Maybe I'm cutting too much out.

I'm writing up some questions and answers about the characters to get a better handle on them. I'm also planning to write descriptions of various places in the world and then work in some details when the opportunity exists. We'll see how it goes.

Still slogging on 12. I'm slowed down by doing some work on 3, taking into account comments accumulated so far as well as making changes where things look weak or wrong. I also have to deal with some continuity problems when I decide to make changes.

Because books.

Your revision skills awe me, Gud. I have enough trouble just revising straight through, much less going back and forth *and* incorporating comments. Way to go!

Your revision skills awe me, Gud.

Thanks! Of course, the results may dampen the awe.

My beta swap person just finished 2 and I feel like I should incorporate the comments and stuff I know need fixing before handing off 3. Then back to finish off 12 so I can get to the fun of 13. So far 8 has been my favorite revision chapter, but 13 may give it a run for its money.

I'm starting to question the end of the year goal for finishing revision. So much work to go.

I got 3 revised again. Now back to finish off 12.

I had Opera read chapter 3 to me and it sounded okay. A couple of places were a bit clunky, but it's not the last revision. Listening to the chapter via text to speech (Opera's is good, much better than Narrator) makes me want to put all physical beats before the associated dialog so I know who is talking since there is no variation in voice when doing text to speech. It also makes me want to put all the attributions up front too, so I don't think it's a good indicator. It is interesting to listen to something I wrote being read back to me, not the same as reading it aloud though I think reading it aloud is more useful.
