Lindsey: Why--why did you... Lorne: One last job. You're not part of the solution, Lindsey. You never will be. Lindsey: You kill me? A flunky?! I'm not just...Angel...kills me. You...Angel... Lorne: Good night, folks.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Thanks, Barb. I can send you a Word file or share a Google doc with you, as you prefer, as soon as I get it typed up. Friday or so, probably.

Coding and Sleeping

Last night was a writing night. After the kids went to sleep, I stayed up late writing. Not good for the sleeping but I got in about 1800 words. Chapter 10 has some interesting character interaction. It's hard to stop once I get going. I'm really looking forward to chapters 11 and 12, lots of stuff going on in those.

No time to write last night, maybe no time tonight either. Sadness. I have a relationship to destroy and a character to kill dammit.

brillig

I had a dream last night that was close to a nightmare. With a little working, it's morphed itself into a pretty good story in the horror vein. But I don't want to write it, it gives me the willies and I don't want to associate with it.

But it's not like I've been embarrassed by a glut of produceable ideas or the mental umph to write them. It's very frustrating.

I have a relationship to destroy and a character to kill dammit.

And... I'm flashing to Princess Bride:

"Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work, but I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped."

I was hit with a new story idea tonight over hamburgers.

Connie, maybe if you write it, you purge yourself of it?

Cool.

Chapter 10 is done. One character dead, though he was a bit of a redshirt. More important characters will pop their clogs later. One fledgling relationship destroyed beyond repair. I'm up to 66,000 words now.

Always Anti-fascist!

Is it cool or lame that I get heated up writing sex scenes?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I don't know. But I think it's weird I suck at sex scenes, but I write kickass archery and hand-to-hand: sword, staff, fists, whatever comes to hand. My sons took martial arts and they and their friends used to practice at our house. I've done some study on the philosophy of kendo, bushido, jeet koon do, etc., but I've never actually practiced.

I just think it's the bloodthirsty side of my pacifist self coming out in the writing.

Normal?

Chapter 11 is done. That puts me at about 73,000 words. My wife found Chapter 10 to be problematic. We communicated in the same house via E-mail to leave a recorded conversation and notes have been written. There is minimal impact to the plot so I'm plunging onward for now.

As an interesting note, I think I mentioned I had a character that might end up having a ambiguous sexual orientation where gayness is left as an exercise for the reader. One of my wife's notes about that very character was to the effect of "Hey, wouldn't it be interesting if this character swung both ways." I found that highly amusing.
