At what age do we lose that?
I guess before eight! I seriously hated what my mother made me wear right from kindergarten because people made fun of. Some of it, looking back on it, was really cute, but it was the late seventies and people did not like homemade. I had this little weird orangy outfit that she made and embroidered the face of a sock monkey on, all freehand because she is talented, but people told me I looked like a monkey and I hated wearing it.
I love how wee kids don't give a shit about what people think of their clothes. Their own opinion is the only one that matters in the world. At what age do we lose that?
That's one of the many things I love about little kids. I'm going to encourage all the ones I know not to lose that outlook. I suspect most people lose that outlook right around the teen years.

I lost it in late elementary and then gained it back for much of my teens.
Jilli, did you see the most recent chemicalromance post about The Love Cats? I honestly don't know how they think a long hiatus is going to work if Frank's bored after three weeks.
I just realized I have almost three weeks of accrued vacation. Maybe I'll take a random week this summer. Or maybe just more long weekend. Hmmm!
Somewhere around age 7 I had an elasticated/smocked top that could be worn as a tube top or with v-like strings around the necks. Got teased mercilessly for it by the guys next door, and promptly abandoned strapless until thirty years had past.
It was always very easy to make me feel bad for getting attention because of my clothes--I approached that on two levels--by shutting out people's reactions to me as well as cutting some things out of my wardrobe.

I DID!! Mind you, if I had tried to predict which member of MCR would decide to join a Cure tribute band, I wouldn't have guessed it would be Frankie. Adorable little crazy person.
