Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

You don't even give children aspirin anymore. I find that odd. Is Reyes Syndrome really that common?

I was never given aspirin. Always got Tylenol.

Is Reyes Syndrome really that common?

I have it. My feet are blocks of ice in the winter. don't know if it was the aspirin, though.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Real headline (NYT):

Monkeys Control a Robot Arm With Their Thoughts

....in the annals of news articles I don't even need to read, their titles just make me happy.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I was never given aspirin. Always got Tylenol.

I think you're younger than me Hil, so our age difference probably accounts for our differing experiences. I can remember when the conventional wisdom on children's aspirin changed.

I think Reyes syndrome involves liver damage. I know it's serious.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the kid might notice when it doesn't fucking work!

But what about when it does? I'd be loathe to gamble a kid's welfare on it ("No, Timmy, give Mommy back the penicillin and take these instead!"), but my parents dosed me up with rum toddies from the git go. Does my medical research mother think there's solid science behind that? I don't think it was exactly the point.

Sometimes placebos truly work.

I am having such a huge craving for lemonade. Sadly I have lemonade, so it comes down to self-control.

Umm, and the reason you are exercising this self control is....?

Upset stomach avoidance. Maybe if I take a Tums every time I walk past the bottle, and dilute the lemonade to half strength...

Yeah, but that doesn't seem to be the selling point with Obecalp. The way I read it, the idea was to offer the child something to stop the whinging.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

They do make a "monster spray" - use it to keep down the monsters under the bed and/or in the closet. I understand it's actually air freshener.
