I like money better than people. People can so rarely be exchanged for goods and/or services!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I need to make something to put the bacon in.

Don't we call that a tummy?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I bought myself a surpise. One of my coworkers bought himself three surprises.

We're all ridiculously excited about the surprises.

Don't we call that a tummy?

I consider the entire world a bacon delivery system, yes.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Whoa. I just heard thunder. Am I crazy?

Nope, another bolt of thunder. Weird.

I need to go get started on dinner. I think I'm making greens and potatoes to be healthy, and a nitrate-free kielbasa to be not-so-healthy.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I got canning supplies. Now I need to find things to can. I also bought way too many quart jars and not enough half-pint ones. Most recipes I'm seeing for things in quart jars are apples, pickles, and sauerkraut. But I like all of those things, so it'll work out.

We've been hearing thunder here in Silver Lake, Burrell. Not just your imagination.

Whoohoo!

Uh, except for the walk to the parking lot for my car.

Let me try that leaving work thing.

Lots of thunder here, with a full explanation of the Doppler Effect and approximation of how far away the storm is, judging from the length and loudness of thunder.

Heh. Scientists.

One second is .2 miles! The higher pitch (the crack) reaches you first because of the wavelength! Um. Hi.

As oddly charmed as I was by LA (even the stereotypical overheard of modelish types in a fancy pants place, talking about what their therapists said about their narcissism!) the fact you are surprised by thunderstorms makes me have to cross it off my list of places. As if real estate didn't already.

I need my thunderstorms.
