I got canning supplies. Now I need to find things to can. I also bought way too many quart jars and not enough half-pint ones. Most recipes I'm seeing for things in quart jars are apples, pickles, and sauerkraut. But I like all of those things, so it'll work out.

As oddly charmed as I was by LA (even the stereotypical overheard of modelish types in a fancy pants place, talking about what their therapists said about their narcissism!) the fact you are surprised by thunderstorms makes me have to cross it off my list of places.
