In November, [the IEA] said its analysis of projects known to be in the works suggested that the world could face a shortfall by 2015 of as much as 12.5 million barrels a day, unless there was a sharp drop in expected demand.

Either way, though, a shortfall of 12.5 million barrels is huge. If that's an accurate assessment, prices are going to have to double another couple of times to bring demand into line with supply. $500 oil, anyone?
So, in seven years, gas might be $16 per gallon....

At lunch, I walked by the law school, which is having it's graduation today. So many of the female grads were wearing strapless party dresses to their graduation. It seemed very strange choice for graduates from a professional school. Also, it's not even 60 F here, so they must be freezing.

A co-worker just came by to tell me that a Marathon gas station some five miles up the road is selling gas from 12-1 today (it's already 12:10 here) for only $1.88/gallon. Damnit, I just filled up earlier this week!!

In my defense, he doesn't make a fool of himself in a white rhinestone-studded jumpsuit. So he doesn't stand out in the mind in quite the same way.
