When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

not your mom's socks.

I was upstairs icing/steaming my face when this happened -

DH: please leave that candy on the counter alone (there is all types of wrong with this sentence already).

Iris: but I just want to see it....

DH: NO.

Iris: Ok. (walks away. Gets stepladder. returns.)

DH: What did I say?

Iris: I just want to see it. Puh-leeze?

DH: Ok. Just look. Then we need to go.

Iris: (after 22.4 seconds) Can I hold it?

DH: That's it, you're done. (Iris back on floor, stepladder away.)

Iris: (mumbling to herself as she walks away.) Well, that didn't work.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Is it pathetic that doing the dishes is my Big Accomplishment for the day?

My Big Accomplishment is laundry. But it was five loads of laundry, so I feel that it should at least count as a Medium Accomplishment.

HA. Go Iris!

Hil, totally! I meant to strip the beds and wash the sheets and I still might. But they will have to be hung tomorrow to dry.

I wish I lived somewhere desert-y so that I could hang stuff to dry. But in DC there's nowhere to hang stuff (when I have one or two things that I need to hang dry, they go over my shower rod), and in NJ, anything hung outside would get covered with pollen.

Iris is Very Sneaky.

I have run (very very slowly), had pancakes with my niece and sister, done laundry, trimmed the roses, and found a pair of underpants in my hedge. Can I be done for the day?

Also, I want some cute new tops that I can wear to work and aren't completely unprofessional nor boring. And a new bathing suit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm trying to find somewhere to donate them. And I can't find anywhere to donate that I can get to without either a car or several metro transfers.

I'm lucky that there is both a Salvation Army and a Goodwill within walking distance of me. I take stuff a couple of shopping bags at a time, and it works out.

It doesn't fix presbyopia, the disorder you need reading glasses for. So for those of you considering, it may not seem worth it once you realize you will need to use reading glasses later in life. Still worth it, for me!

This is why I figure I won't do it. I would get 10, maybe 20 years glasses-free, so it would probably save money in the long run, but eh.

Iris: (mumbling to herself as she walks away.) Well, that didn't work.

Ha!

I did laundry this morning, and then went to a birthday party where I only knew the birthday girl. This is an accomplishment for me. It was fun!

I've got about one shopping bag worth of clothes to donate, and nowhere to donate them. I found a Salvation Army church nearby, but I don't think they take donations there.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

found a pair of underpants in my hedge.

This is the kind of thing that is totally hilarious to read about, and I am totally glad not to have the experience myself.

I carefully lifted them out with the shears I was using to lop off dead rose blooms.

Oy.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

So... my mother went to the hospital Tuesday night suffering from SVT (after having issues all day). Had a heart procedure performed on Wednesday and went home on Thursday. I just. found. out.
