And I still have to leave work if mac gets sick or has an appointment, and one parent always will - it shouldn't always have to be the mom, but missing work is going to happen - that is whether you have them at 25 or 45 - unless you have a nanny.

Well sure, but I think if she'd had waited until she was a little further up her career ladder when she had me than she was, things might have been easier. Maybe she would have even been able to afford a nanny.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What? You're joking. People actually believe that? Joking about tossing the baby out the window or selling it to the Gypsies is TOTALLY normal. And expected.

My 3pm interview just called to say she thinks she'll be about 5 minutes late. Good that she called, or bad that she's late?

On the one hand, five minutes not too bad, and she called. If the rest of the interview is great, I wouldn't worry. OTOH, I know I usually end up way EARLY to interviews, because I'm afraid I'll be late, so...if she didn't seem like she really wanted the job, it might be a (slight) mark. But shit happens, so not a big one.

Two things I tell the college seniors in this group I am a part of is to seriously think about and work at meeting mates in college and to not dismiss having children early

...would've been happy to. Didn't. Heck, my sister DID, and married at 22, and is now 26...but still has to (plan to, soon) do IVF because of her husband. Heck, I"m starting to go "Eep, I'm 30, and if I dont' meet someone soon I will NEVER HAVE BABIES". But I'm, y'know, aware of that.

I don't think I interviewed this girl for long enough. I was done in a half hour. Does that seem right? It's basically an entry-level job, so I figure there's not that much to ask.

Hmm. Did she have to interview with anyone else? Would she be working with anyone else? I'm used to a bunch of interviews where it's half an hour or 45 minutes with each person, but I have to interview with several...But really, if she's mostly being your assistant, however long you feel you need is probably the right answer.

n adopting-but-not-a-child news, our new standard poodle arrives tomorrow.

YAY! There will be pictures, right?

Oh yeah, the interviewee was late because she drove here from Harrisburg, and the mapquest directions were bad. That's legit to me.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Okay, that interspecies lewd act gets a pass.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Yay new puppy!

I"m trying to stay positive in re: fertility, but I am aware that at 38, it might take time or might not happen. So far no problems have been detected and I don't want to stress myself over it so I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky few who manages to conceive at an "advanced maternal age" fairly easily. But if it doesn't happen, there's always adoption. Also we have a freaking great life and I know that will continue whether there is added baby or not.

Also, do not point me back to this post if I angst over fertility in the future :)
