Aww, Jesse found a nerd buddy! Paula Poundstone almost always cracks me up on Wait, Wait!
I'm tivoing Carrier for later viewing. When I somehow find a minute. I watched most of the first hour and got hooked.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

not watching Carrier - my sister was on one, and I got an idea of what it was like.
I just read a bunch of the postcard site - the more random emails - with left out word s, the wrong words, and the jumping around... they could be written by my mom or even more sadly me.
Not to denigrate any nerd buddies here, of course!
Oh, and this will only be of interest to msbelle and bon bon, if them, but some friend-of-a-friend tried to friend me on Facebook, and it turns out to be the meat book guy from that one party. @@
I also adhere firmly to Daisy Jane's belief that a drink made out of vodka, vermouth and either an olive or an onion may be a delightful libation but it is not, strictly speaking, a martini.
Given that the name "martini" comes from the vermouth in it, I'm certainly not going to argue with you. In fact, if you said in someone's house in France that you wanted "un martini," you would get a glass of vermouth.
HA!
oh and ita - yes the cards are mac related, BUT STILL. I am sending him to school with trading notes so he will know what cards to get (he wants this help btw, but I am clearly too competitive, even I can see it).

Hey, now, the name is because it was invented in Martinez. One of those fake unofficial courts said so!
Jesse, on the contrary, I am very interested in what a meat book guy is.
It sounds kinda gross, but I'm interested anyway.
The cocktail article made me want to make Manhattans this weekend, because I have the vague impression that I like those. I mostly drink beer, or use mixers, or have a rum & coke.
My sloth interferes with my drunkenness. It's sad.
But in a fit of spendyness last weekend, I ordered a cool cart/bar thingy to properly display my booze & mixers & such, and I'm having people over next month so I may attempt to have an actual cocktail party. I think I even have goofy umbrella-straws somewhere, which should count for something.

He's trying to sell you his meat book! I saw him last weekend, and our friend that tried to throw you off a balcony, but avoided talking to either.

Some guy who wrote a book about meat, and spent an entire party telling people about it. At length. I would probably find it interesting, really, if the guy weren't so pushy about it.

Do you have a link? Not that my current apartment really has anywhere to put one, but I was really looking for something for my alcohol and could find nowt good.
Decided to stave off the popcorn cravings by making some steel cut oatmeal instead. More variety. And I did up the calorie math--the popcorn is 40 calories per tbsp so 160 calories per batch, and I allow myself no more than one buttering a day, even if I have more than one batch of corn. Butter's 100 calories a tablespoon, so my cracked pepper browned butter topping is 400 calories.
A delicious 560 calories, let me tell you. Since I'm doing math, the oatmeal is 120 calories, with 100 calories from cream and 20 from strawberry jam, so 240 for this snack. Nummy.
Remington Steele was indeed very satisfying. I'd forgotten Murph!
Quantum Leap proves to be less satisfying. Does not live up to my fondness. I think I must just google and find out how the first ep ended and delete the season pass.
