These girls have the most beautiful dresses. And so do I -- how about that?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Okay, that Spencer steak I bought on the way home from work was WAY too expensive. I should pay more attention. But the result? With the mushrooms and the spinach and the wine and the random ricotta on top? That's my idea of low-carbing it.

Which isn't on purpose. If I was allowed wheat I'd have couscous with it. Quinoa just doesn't make the cut. But it's possible I haven't yet had the epiphanic preparation yet.

Typing! On the laptop! In front of the TV!

What is Carrier? I've seen a few people mention it...

Vortex is SMART! I will go late. Especially cause it starts at 8pm and it's 7:30 and I am not ready to go. Excellent plan.

You don't like quinoa, ita? I love quinoa. Mostly for the texture, I don't think it tastes, particularly. Though I haven't tried the red quinoa I bought the other day.

Carrier is documentary series running 5 days on PBS about life on the USS Nimitz. Alternates between fucking infuriating and terribly sweet.

I don't think I've gotten the right fluff yet. With all of those grain-steaming recipes it takes me a few goes to get the right texture. Taste--I'm not thinking there's much of that.

I miss my couscous.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

dang y'all, now I want a martini.

ita for me the hardest part of the gluten-free diet was the no bread, no pasta (especially since I still was making pasta for Frances a couple times a week). I did find that a lot of quick breads and muffins could be made gluten-free no problem, but I missed the nice yeasty loaf of bread.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Citrus vodka, a splash of real lemon juice, sparkling water over ice. Garnish with lemon or lime.

That sounds fab. I should start drinking more soda water.

I totally found my new nerd buddy, in the form of my friend's husband's coworker! We were at the TAL screening, and her other friend was like, what else you got? And she was like, Well, Paula Poundstone will be here in a couple of weeks... I was all, I like her on Wait, Wait! And of course she does, too.

I'm getting through no bread by ingesting untoward amounts of popcorn--at least 1/4 cup unpopped a day. I got some rice flour pasta at Wholefoods. It's passable. Grainy aftertaste, though.

Dammit. Now I want more popcorn.

Watching the pilot episode of Remington Steele. Mr. Steele has just been "born." Nicely done. Good times, good times.

Aw.

Season 1 was the best. Because of Murphy, who I still have a soft spot for.
