hip deep in pie

A Stanley Cup tradition is to not shave for the duration that your team is contending. So many of the players are young... extremely young that their beards? Not so great.

I think some of the older ones even have troubles.

Which reminds me, I was flipping around the channels last night, and the Montreal-Philadelphia game was about to start, and they were showing Philly fans entering the arena. One guy was dressed in an orange, fuzzy, Flyers-logoed pimp suit and hat. I actually paused and rewound to make sure it wasn't David Borenanaz. I wish I could find a picture.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My almost-18-y.o. nephew has got a quite prodigious beard growing. It's gotta be the Italian from his mom's side, because my brother couldn't get a decent beard going until he was in college. He shaved it off once after he got his degree, but we laughed at him so hard (he looked like a baby!!) that he grew it back and hasn't shaved it off in the 24 years since. It's now almost all grey and he keeps it relatively short, so I asked him earlier this month why he bothers with it all, since it's practically invisible. It's part of him now, so he keeps it.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

But they're so cute anyway. Bless.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Something we've talked about before.... Now charges have been filed.

Parents charged in diabetes death

Weston - Even as her 11-year-old daughter lay dying on a mattress on the floor of the family dining room on Easter Sunday, Leilani Neumann never wavered in her belief in the power of prayer.

"We just thought it was a spiritual attack and we prayed for her," Neumann said, according to a police report. "My husband, Dale, was crying and mentioned taking Kara to the doctor, and I said the Lord's going to heal her and we continued to pray."

Prayer didn't save Madeline Kara Neumann, who died of untreated diabetes March 23.

And now, the law is poised to come down hard on the girl's parents, Leilani and Dale Neumann, who were both charged with second-degree reckless homicide Monday by Marathon County District Attorney Jill Falstad.

If convicted, the parents face maximum sentences of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Dude. I was wearing makeup at 15 and it was not considered slutty. I mean, if you can get a driver's permit and a work permit, I personally don't think mascara is pushing the envelope.

K-Bug's high school recently did Fiddler on the Roof. The lead grew his own beard and just powdered it for the show. It was FANTASTIC. And made all the kids with fake beards look silly.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Disney's having a hell of a time with its child stars. Course, this scandal is pretty mild, comparatively.

Which is what makes me think its manufactured.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But as soon as you can shave, you can start growing an awesome mustache!!!!

I wish they'd listen, because I do try and tell them they look stupid. I don't understand why my word counts for so little. I mean, are teen girls impressed?

I've been watching Ultimate Fighter on UFC, since apart from the stuntman and the standup comedian comedy show it's most targeted to my demographic. Except, ick. It's a bunch of men who can barely talk around their facial damage with some extremely sketchy facial hair. Soul patches are bad enough--why have an asymmetrical one? Who told you that didn't look like crap? I don't care if you can kick my ass.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Miley: I don't see the big deal. She's growing up and it's a tasteful shot - an Annie L. shot that she'll be happy to have when she's older. It's nothing compared to Britney's Lolita Rolling Stone spread at about the same age. Those were totally all kinds of wrong.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

After getting recent interview requests to talk about Disney's Jonas Brothers, I've decided that the red flag for exploiting kid performers is pretty simple: is the family on the payroll.

They almost always are at that level and that almost always leads to some situation where they sign on to a tour of the Far East and with millions of dollars on the line, you shove your kid out on to stage with a fever of 100 degrees. Or some similar scenario where the kid's interests are not foremost.

So, Miley's already opted into the exploitation business. Or her parents did for her.

Also, I'll note that Annie Leibowitz is famous for asking people to take their shirts off for her photographs. Not just sexy starlets but old folks and famous writers and others. It's not usually sexualized but vulnerable and open.
