Wow. Israel is completely blank (well, almost) in Google Maps. Egypt? Jordan? Full of cities and highways. Israel? Has some lakes and dotted lines around the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. And that's IT.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

If anyone else watched last night's Colbert Report and enjoyed it as much as I did, there's an excellent taping report here.

Dude. That shit was AWE! SOME!

I was just about ready for bed when I watched it (and honestly, while TDS is a must before bed, Colbert isn't always), but after I had too much adrenaline and had to watch, like, a Law and Order to be back in the mood for bed.

STILL didn't feel anything! I could make many inappropriate jokes about this! But actually my building shakes so often that I'm not surprised I didn't notice.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Because of the whole "matzoh and equivalent only" thing during Passover. You get rid of all the not-matzoh-equivalent materials, and clean everything so even little Cheerio-microbes can't contaminate your Passoverness, etc. Which, I always thought would be a real killer for a slob like me; I would have to, like, sweep under my bed for crumbs and vacuum out the little spaces in my keyboard.

I think I'd have to move. They should set up temporary housing, really.

Passover, which begins tomorrow night, never passes by without a surge in emergency room traffic, according to one area physician. Dr. Tucker Woods, chairman at Long Island College Hospital’s emergency department, tells the Post he sees “an uptick in total patient volume during Passover.”

It seems the heavy cleaning leading up to Passover – intended to rid the home of chametz – is taking its toll: “We see a little bit of everything. Dizziness from fumes, slips from highly buffed floors or wet bathroom tiles.”

BTW, the ER at LICH was where I spent 4 hours in excruciating pain (with vomiting) before a doctor would see me when I had my kidney stone. As long as I'm conscious, I'm never going back there.
