happy birthday beth!
Considering that the last big New Madrid earthquake pretty much destroyed the capital city of the territory, Kaskaskia (it redirected the Mississippi River right through the middle of town, leaving most of it the only town in Illinois west of the Mississippi), I figure we have the right to pronounce New Madrid any damn way we want! (Of course, that doesn't account for us mangling the rest of our cities names--Cairo, Marsailles, etc.)
Oh, and happy birthday, beth!!!
How is Cairo pronounced here?
I finally got my kitchen all pesadik. And then realized that I needed to eat breakfast. The last bit of a box of Cheerios, in a plastic bowl, because I am not washing anything else today.
KAY-ro.
KAY-ro.
That's the syrup.
Kai-ro is the city in my pronunciation.
t Shh, don't tell my mom I'm still playing around with the computer.
The cake is still a bit too mushy in its middle. But I turned the oven off, and left it inside, so that it can take care of its middle problems without creating worse being-burned problems on its top.
Oh, and I think infinity is defined by the amount of dishes which my mom thinkgs one person can wash and still not cry "no more, let my people hands go!".
Shir, I'm so glad your sister is home for the holiday!
I am searching for the proper opportunity to say, to somebody who celebrates Passover, "All your chometz are belong to me," but that opportunity has not yet arisen. Just, let the record show: I stand at the ready to eat people's cookies for them.
If I had known this on Wednesday, I would have sold my chometz to *you* instead of the ramdon non-Jewish person the rabbi we talked to had chosen.
Maybe next year? But then, you'd have to come here to get your cookies and other goodies. Which, hey, is very well worth quite a few of cookies for me.
And I'll even take you to Jerusalem, so you can walk around this year and promise people that "Next year, in Jerusalem", and get two sentences in one stone.
t /Shh
[Edit: and now I really gotta go. Bye!]
OMGWTF Earthquake!
I just went over to the Geology building on campus to look at the tracings. They have separate east-west, north-south, and up-down sensors, so you can see the earthquake in 3-d. It looks like it actually lasted for fifteen minutes, but we could only feel it for 30 seconds.
Total damage at my house: one juice glass.
And I'll even take you to Jerusalem
And come and visit me!
Happy birthday, beth!
Good luck w/your unfavorite holiday, Nilly! (Right?)
Shir, I'm so glad your sister is home!
Poor strep-y mac! My coworker has been out since Monday with it. Good times.
