My tivo stopped connecting because the expiration date on my bank card changed, and now it's all updated but the damn thing still won't connect. "Failed while negotiating." WTF? The writers' strike would never have ended if my Tivo was involved.
Heh. And also, ugh! I'm hoping everything will have gotten itself worked out while I'm not there. And/or the loose cord will be obvious when I get home.

When I grew up there, the part of Wisconsin nearest to Chicago wasn't all that wild. I guess things have changed in the last 30 years.
It's alarming to kneel down to retrieve a fallen stack of papers and feel a seam rip.

It was quite enlightening, and even hopeful. And yet I suspect we'll never ever get such a system here. The insurance and pharmaceutical and medical lobbies are too big.
I dunno, I think public sentiment is heading that way. If some sort of employer mandated system goes into place, maybe other industries will start to lobby for a single payer type system so they can get out of the health care benefits business.
It seems to me, being the total non-expert I am, that the problem is the general public wants a free market system that doesn't work like a free market system.

Wisconsin is pretty wild. About a third of my high school graduating class ended up dying from attacks by cougars or the Wisconsin Fresh-water Shark....
