Well, they're turning Southbound trains around at the Damen stop and sending them back North to O'Hare, so now that's where everyone has to get off....

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
98% of what I do is in Times New Roman or Ariel. Or, you know, I'm writing a query where the font is not applicable.
yeah. this is probably what took up a good chunk of the math calculation storage area up in my brain.
coming to a planet near you: possible man-made black hole - [link] (somehow, the rest of my brain is contemplating what these guys would do with the iNuke from COMM)
eta: because I'm obviously not storing the Chicago Manual or On Writing Well anymore...
Fluffy puppy!
My brother has two Malamutes, and I happened to be out visiting him for Christmas the day after they got the dogs. Talk about fluffy puppies! They were two adorable balls of fur that were carried by us from their hangout in the basement to the backyard when they had to do their business. I was also lucky enough to be there on Christmas day when they experienced their first snow--it was so much fun seeing them trying to figure out what this cold wet white stuff was, and then discovering that it was what they were bred for and playing around in it...so cute.
They're a lot bigger now, and the back yard is their home. If they're out of their run and hanging out on the deck when you go out to visit them, they try and jump on you for the required petting session. They don't understand that they're not lap dogs!
Teachers! I have a question:
I remember a few years back one of you (I think Kat, IIRC) was having your kids do reports on famous African-Americans with the caveat that they couldn't be certain African-Americans because you wanted them to find ones that contributed just as much, if not more, but weren't as well-known. I am thinking of creating an activity for my final project in my Lit class and I wanted to do the same thing but with American women save these 20 because come on - everyone knows Helen Keller, or what you. For instance - in my text-set for this unit, I'm including a biography of Nellie Bly. This could serve as their jumping off point.
How did the projects turn out? Did the kids like doing them and learning about new people or did they get frustrated is there weren't an abundance of cource material?
Cab driver said the problem started around Division, so whatever it is, it's growing.
I'm pretty sure the southbound train is still stuck at Clark/Lake due to "defective equipment", which would hose everyone from the Northwest side on down to the Loop.
Dear Crazy Russian Professor:
Why you gotta earworm me with "White and Nerdy"? Why? Why? Why?
Why you gotta earworm me with "White and Nerdy"? Why? Why? Why?
Because it just rocks so hard? Seriously, that is one catchy-ass song. The original possibly even more so.
It's completely catchy. And I love it. But it's -- as mentioned before -- completely catchy. And having hand-walked Crazy Rus. Prof. through the process of starting up her Dostoyevsky slideshow 12 times in a row because she needed to review just one more time, I am now caught.
(But, on the other hand, yes, Dostoevsky = White and Nerdy. That part rocks.)
The Sarkozy Effect: Male Plastic Surgery Boom
Growing numbers of middle-aged men embarking on second marriages are trying to turn the clock back with plastic surgery, experts claim.
Surgeons at a Harley Street clinic say more and more "alpha males", particularly those who are marrying younger women, are going under the knife, with Botox and male breast reduction top of the list.
...
Demand for male breast reduction surgery has increased by 47 per cent, and 43 per cent more men have undergone microdermabrasion - when the outer surface of the skin is sloughed off.
