"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

More than the one I recently saw? And did you get to fix that one?

No and no. I just called Gal to ask when I'll be able to bring it to her (I think you might know her - she started her stage design studies this year, a friend of Chen's?), but she didn't answer. And still, I don't have the shoes to wear skirts with.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I got a bunch of Popular Science magazines from the 1940s at the swap meet, including one with the cover story EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT TELEVISION. Lots of ads about which cigarettes doctors recommend, and advice on line drying your pantyhose. Also, many advertisements about various wonderful inventions thatare helping our troops BEAT THOSE JAPS.

Amazing shit. I got my boss one about the US building an additional moon, and the physics of creating a human bullet.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Nilly! Matilda curls!

I have convinced my mother to make matzoh crack this year for Passover.

Is this the reason why my grocery store had a sale on a 5-pound package of matzoh?

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Shir, thanks! I thought they were pretty nice, but I'm a little biased.

And still, I don't have the shoes to wear skirts with.

Matilda will be happy to act as your expert shoe consultant, just as soon as she wakes up.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Trust Matilda's awesome shoe expertise! Just look at those adorable things she's wearing herself!

Swouncing

Matilda has found your F2F avatar.

Oh. My. Goodness. That's, like, the very best thing that could happen to an avatar in the history of the world. I mean, being snuggled by all that adorableness (and, oh, my, what a big, beautiful girl!), and being able to stare back at that face, and - oh, my. At least, if I can't cuddle her myself, this little doll can. And, oh, it held on so well!

This may be the most adorable thing in the world. Her little neck and the back of her neck and the delicate way it curves and becomes cheeks and chins and shoulders and little curls and all the rest of her - I'm a little pile of goo typing right now. Spelling is a very accomplished thing to do, when you're goo.

And now I'm even more melty, thinking about how, when that doll went around the world and around several places in the US, for the first F2F, Matilda hadn't even begun - OK, I'm stopping now, before Hallmark cards get a sugar overdose from me. But I may still think this stuff quietly, OK?

[Edit:

I just called Gal to ask when I'll be able to bring it to her (I think you might know her - she started her stage design studies this year, a friend of Chen's?)

I'm afraid I know neither. Maybe I can recognize their faces, but definitely not their names. Sorry. Also, of course, good luck with the shoes!]

I don't mind Tony, actually, but I could live without him, in a way that I could not Abby or Ducky. I am disappointed McGee and Abby stopped undating, though.

At first, Gibbs was curmudgeonly and brusque, but now he's downright a-word-that-means-has-no-respect-for-others'-rights. Cheneyesque, I suppose. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Nilly! Do you know of Yael Naim? Her album is one of the purchases that arrived this weekend, and I love it! (Other purchases were Annie Lennox's new album and a book of papers on undecidability.)

NO. Quietly is NOT OKAY. Please to continue thinking this stuff out loud!

Those pictures were from Saturday. Yesterday, sadly, Matilda was a little rougher on Little Nilly, dragging it along the sidewalks of Berkeley like a puppy on a leash until I made her pick it up and be a little more tender. The poor thing stopped BOING-ing about a year ago; it still coils and springs, but the only sound it makes is a sort of crackling hiss that gets higher and thinner and finally peters out (or possibly goes up into a frequency that only dogs can hear). It's still terribly cute, though.

I think you know them both, by face.

And thank you all, especially Matilda, for the shoes wishes, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen anytime soon.
