You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

If my boss left a message on my cell phone asking where something is and I left it right where she told me it was yesterday I don't have to call her back, right?

Ha! If only it was that easy!

Just got home from work. Turns out the kiddos had their yearly big play tonight. And, well, when I said I really couldn't make it, I thought a couple of the kids might actually cry. So, I grabbed some dinner and headed over.

OMG. SO freaking hysterical. And, I won cool points with a couple of the kids. Actually, I was kind of guilted into coming because they were like, "Miss M (the other after care teacher) is coming! You have to come too!" Then Miss M didn't come. One of my girl's response to that was right up there with her, "You're cooler than Miss M because you have the magic remembering book and you actually remember to bring what you say you're gonna bring." And then I got to meet her dad who told me that she talks about me at home more than any of her other teachers. See me beam. This is my oldest girl...the one I was so worried about reaching. Guess I'm doing ok.

During the reception time, I sat on the floor and shared popcorn with my kindergartener. I asked her if we should do anything special tomorrow. Our conversation went something like this:

R: We should go on a field trip!
Me: Yeah? Where should we go?
R: The ZOO!
Me: Yeah? And how are we going to get there? You're not going to all fit in my car!
R: We need a bus!
Me: I can't get a bus on this short notice.
R: Well, you could steal one tomorrow morning after the drivers are all done taking the kids to school.
Me: Oh, you think, huh? But, I could go to jail for that.
R: They'd never convict you.
Me: Oh, you think, huh?
R: No! I know! Besides, if you went to jail I'd break you out, and we'd do it all over again!

R's mom walks up, and it continues...

Me: So, R thinks I need to steal a bus tomorrow morning, after all the drivers are done taking the kids to school, so we can go to the zoo.
R's Mom: Oh, yeah? Which zoo?
R: The one by Miss Val's!
R's Mom: Rock on!
Me: So, you wouldn't press charges for kidnapping, right? Because I think I'm gonna be locked up for a while on the stealing a bus charge.
R's Mom: Never! And besides, they'd never convict you on the stealing charge.

Hmmm...there's no wondering where that girl got her wit and evil planning skills.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Lillian just keeps getting cuter...

We have M's tix tonight but decided not to go because it's chilly and gloomy, I'm not feeling that well, and DH and I both wanted a quiet evening at home after me being away for four days. I figure this increases the odds that tonight will be when Bedard throws a no-hitter...

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Lily is adorable.

One loaf of bread is in plastic bag and in freezer. Other loaf of bread is in plastic bag and on counter. Cupcakes are in oven. (Cupcakes are way quicker than bread. Cupcakes were 20 minutes from, "Hmm, I want to make cupcakes" until they were in the oven.)

Hil, go you with the bread-making. I LOVE making bread from scratch. I wish I had time to do it more often. I use my aunt's recipe that she wrote out for me years ago. Actually, I think that recipe is in the Buffista cookbook.

Yeah, bread from scratch totally beats bread from the store. Does take a while, though.

The cupcakes are Mexican hot chocolate flavored, from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Still cooking, but the batter is really good.

Aaaaand, the night-before-exam emails have started. Fun. First was sent at 8. I'm betting on last being sent at 4. Exam is at 10:20.
