Aren't Australian opossums different from the North American kind?
Yes, first, we never call them opossums, just possums. And they are not so closely related. Our possums are more closely related to kangaroos than American opossums.
Sort of how U.S. robins aren't the same bird as the U.K. robin.
Fun fact: Australia has about fifteen different species of robin, none of which are related closely to either the robin or the American robin.
I've been such a nice girl and decent student, and ok mom and wife. Can you please send me a wombat? A real, live, breathing, fuzzy one??
Silly Aimee. Wombats have ridiculous trouble getting visas to America these days. They're treated as terra-rists. (Plus, they can get cranky.)
