Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I happy doing all my own cooking. It would just be nice if there were someone else to clean up afterwards. (Growing up, we always had arguments about the cooking/cleaning rules. Some people thought that the person who cooked should also clean, because if you make the mess, you clean it up. Others felt that if one person cooked and everybody ate, then a fair division of labor would say that someone who didn't cook would clean up. I am firmly in the latter camp, but I live alone, so I've got to both cook and clean. House elves would be a very nice addition.)

I generally follow the "if you cook, you don't clean up" rule, but it can get pretty lopsided. My sister does all the cooking, and so never cleans up. So now she's become one of these people who uses 50 million plates/pans/containers for what she's doing because she's not the one cleaning them.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I'm in the latter camp, but since I LOVE cooking and really don't like cleaning it somehow seems unfair.

So me. We had the family rule of "I cook, you clean". Mom didn't fancy that rule as much when we started cooking... and that we were better cooks... but that's another discussion.

That's the thing, she likes to cook (and she loves the control), so it can be pretty unfair.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I got the cold Monday, gave the cold to The Boy on Wednesday, and if he gets better before I do (which is looking likely) I am going to be PISSED.

Yeah, that's me. Tom always seems to be sick for twice as long as I am.

Meh, I have not been feeling great all weekend long. Not that this has stopped me from enjoying 2 beer events- Cambridge Brewing Company's "Nineteen Beers for Nineteen Years" on Friday night and then NERAX (New England Real Ale Exhibition) on Saturday. They have always been on the same weekend, which is sort of an overload. Happily, next year, NERAX will be in March instead of May!

In other beer news, Tom just finished brewing his first all-grain batch of homebrew. This involves a lot of jerryrigged equipment- coolers, copper pipes, um... other stuff. He was talking about being pleased with "extraction rates" so it seems that things went well. He's like a mad chemist in there!

We don't. (Do humans count as a "thing"?)

I just spent over two hours working on the stupid evite for me and my friend's thesis completion celebration, and evite ATE it. GRRRRRR. And that's like the 20th thing that has gone annoyingly wrong today. I think it's just bed time.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

My old place was 196 square feet. Total. This really feels palatial.

Ah. This is 40 square meters (c 130 square feet). Ha. Your old place sounds palatial! (But I like my studio - it's very pretty, and has nice views. Plus, I am a slob, so it's just as well that the space-for-making-mess is kept to a minimum, I guess...)
