I love Botswana, and we really tried to get posted there. That was before the AIDS rate was 95%. It's so depressing.
So part of the life weirdness continues - for those of you who don't read my blog, we discovered last week that the DH has a half-sister. Who lives about 2 hours away. Their mother is famously hard to find; we hadn't heard from her since the day Mal was born.
We tracked her down. She was thrilled to hear the news. Apparently since the advent of the Internets she's been trawling the adoption boards, seeing if there was any way to find her daughter.
Just got a note that she's flying out here next week to meet her daughter for the first time in 40+ years, and then she'll visit us and meet her grandson for the first time ever.
Here are some of the things you can see at the Maker Faire this weekend.
The recently constructed Babbage Difference Engine.
Kite Aerial Photography
Fun and Fire with the Flaming Lotus Girls
The Laser Harp
My Dinner with Android
iPhone Hacking Lab
And the cool looking Steampunk band, Abney Park.
That looks like so much fun.
David! You're up early. How is wee Matilda sleeping these days?

Ooooooh.
Today, I should either do laundry or work on my research. Both of those, however, would require getting off my couch, which I don't want to do.

I think you have your answer right there. She'd had a run of uninterrupted sleep in her crib, but that hasn't been the case over the last week. She and JZ are currently zonked on the couch.
David - are you going?
Hey Sox! No, can't afford it plus little league.
Feh - I had a job interview for a long term temp assignment at a law firm yesterday. Everything went well, they liked my job experience and they liked me. Thought it was in the bag. Then they called in and said, they
thought
they had been authorized to hire two temps for this project, but in actuality only one would be allowed. (I presume some Partner looked at the economy, his probably partner profits and barked about over staffing).
But you know...you could've saved us a lot of trouble by getting the authorization
before
you call me in for the interview.
Anyway, I've got to find some dayjob work for the next couple months because my new book project doesn't get started until July.
And, we've got a baseball game this morning.
And, this is a cool picture.
Hec, that job thing sucks.
I think there should be a law for businesses:
When it comes to the process of hiring and firing employees - have your shit together.

this.
sorry to hear about the temp job David &, of course, the sleepless!
