I got chunky blonde highlights last month and I do not like them. They are too stripey (hate that) and the effect is too blonde. I need to go back and add some darker. I miss my Snow White hair from my younger days (mixed blue and burgundy and it came out black with a purple sheen). I'm too old now to have my hair that dark - I just look icky.
Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
henna - the smell wasn't that strong when I used it,but a bit itchy ... you might want to put some on a area of skin that doesn't show for awhile just in case you react to it. Of course, I waszn't diagnosised with asthma then ...
Thanks, Plei. I have never done my own hair, but I have thought a lot lately about doing something with less chemicals.
I cannot picture Glamcookie looking icky under any circumstances.
GC, very cool picture!
TCG got home just in time to see me in a crazy low blood sugar if I don't eat this burger right now I'll kill somebody moment. Oops! I forgot he was stopping in before his meeting. I think my iron is low too, but the idiot nurse at my doctor's office wouldn't give me my blood test results.
that giraffe looks like a refugee from Wonderfalls.
Check out this cool pic I took Saturday night!
ooh! Love it! Here is giraffe in happier times:

I think you would rock it. And be my black hair twin!!!
The only smell issue I have had with henna comes from putting both coffee (to deepen the color) and apple cider vinegar (to make it adhere more effectively to the grey) in it. So, a sort of java moss tangy smell. But the effects are worth it.
Also, to avoid the fine powder/breathing issue, you might consider one of those cheap painting masks available at the hardware or grocery store.

I already have those for cleaning because I'm so allergic to dust.
I had a weird revelation yesterday. Hubby's hair has pretty much all gone silver by now (lucky natural Norwegian blonds), and he's wearing it very short. We were sitting outside and I was admiring the way the sun was glinting on his hair, and something is pinging my memory about the way he looks.
Sweet mother of god, he looks like my father. Is that part of what made me fall for him 25 years ago? I keep getting a faint, "Hey, Daddy!" when I catch him out of the corner of my eye at various angles, and it's weird.
