If the new place doesn't have a programmable thermostat, invest in one! They're easy to attach and it will save you $ and worry, because you won't have to remember anything.

I still need to get a programmable 7 day thermostat. I have such an irregular schedule that the weekday / weekend ones don't quite do it for me.

That's my situation as well. I have the thermostat programmed to turn off the hat after we go to bed and before get up, though, and that does seem to make a difference to the bills.
