Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Trust my rage

so, tonight is the sleep training? Good luck to Jessica, E and D.

Ellie is a good sleeper but she still sleeps with us and has no desire to leave. Lik JZ, I tell myself she will sleep on her own by college. In the mean time, she is cuddly.

The thing I have noticed the most about Ellie and eating is that I really have to set the example- and that can be such a bummer although it has definitely improved what I eat.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yes, right now in fact. I can't go back in for another 2 minutes. It is torture.

Poor Jess! Stay strong! (There is just something about your baby crying that goes right into the base of my brain.)

Thrive to spite them

MM I hope you had a day of light callers because I got so many and so crazy. I told a co worker "it feels like the universe is prank calling me."

Well, that wasn't so bad - he fell asleep after about 45 minutes (around 8:30), which is only about 10 minutes later than he's been falling asleep the last few days anyway. Of course, 2 am will be worse, but I think we'll get through this.

Stay strong Jess and Fone!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I really wish I hadn't been so hard-core (relatively speaking, I mean, I still ran SCREAMING from Mothering.com) AP when Lillian was younger. Not that I expect sleep training would have worked, but maybe it would have trained US to be able to sleep through her waking up and fussing about.

Of course, she didn't start being a terror about sleep until 7 months. And then I went back to work at a day shy of 8 months, so I had mother guilt and she was reverse cycling and blah blah blah.

It's funny, I still have the reflexive twitch about sleep training, but DAMN, I wish we'd tried it out.

(Of course, Certain Other People in the house wouldn't agree with that. Other than Lillian. Certain Other People are NOT in tune with the notion of Good Enough.)

Because books.

Has he always gotten up then, Jess, or is that new? Also, yay!

What is AP, Plei? Oh, wait, I know. Attachment Parenting, yes?

Our wings are not tired.

All parents and kids are different, but I did not have the will to try and make my boys sleep. They slept with me until they wanted their own space. I made a couple feeble attempts at keeping them in their room, but they were miserable and I was miserable. We had a king waterbed with a single waterbed at our feet and the crib against the side of the bed. Basically my bedroom was all bed. I got more sleep that way.

I was tough on what went in their bellies when they were very young because we have a huge amount of diabetes in my family. Now Brendon downs sugary soda because it really doesn't bother him and Bobby can't tolerate sugar at all. I have lots of healthy food choices around, but junk happens. They are healthy.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I obviously needed more songs in my math.
