Mostly lurking...

My brain hasn't figured out that the thesis is done. It really thought that I needed to be up at 5am on a Saturday. GO BRAIN! Go back to sleep!

Or not.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

gahhhhhhhh. Having Adventures on Friday nights is fun (we went to 2 trendy spots and lived it up) but my body can't take it anymore!

I am pretty sure it was worth it though. Periodistas! Veuve Cliquot! Fernet! (oh, yeah, I got sick big time, but in an appropriate place and time) Oysters! Roasted bone marrow!

Free ride in a chauffered car! Sending bottles of wine to cute boys!

Oh, lord, I mentioned the Fernet, right? our server perked right up when I ordered it. She brought me a ginger beer chaser too.

Man, that was fun. I feel rough today, but I'm home now (I crashed at my friend's place instead of keeping Tom up waiting for my drunk ass to roll in) and in my fleecy pants and on the couch.

Dude, I never have nights out like that! Probably a good thing.

In unfortunate news, I just found out that the ultra budget airline Skybus has folded and therefore we cannot go visit my sister next weekend. Bah!

Nora, I'm sorry you can't go see your sister.

me too... I'm definitely not surprised that the airline has folded, I was just hoping to squeeze this one last visit in. I'd already decided this would be our last trip on Skybus.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Wow. Isn't that like the third airline to fold this week? Crazy.

Our wings are not tired

Speaking of airlines guess where I am? That right, sitting on my United flight to Orlando waisting for the doors to close so I can head back to the happy fun boat.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Fuck cancer.

Just talked to my mom. The hole in her hip where they'd found some secondary cancer or the cancer was eating the bone or something is larger (if this doesn't make sense, it's because I'm getting it filtered through my mom), and there's now some cancer in her remaining lung. They did an MRI on her brain to see if there's anything there, but she hasn't heard the results from that yet.

They're going to be giving her something called Alimta that's the chemo given when the first round of chemo for this type of cancer doesn't work.

And that's all I know for now. I wish I could get on the phone with her doctors and ask all the questions I'd ask if it were me.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, I can't believe that there aren't laws that say that the work + benefits that you agreed to when you started can't be jerked away from you without notice. Isn't employment some sort of contract?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I am sorry, Susan. I understand wanting to ask the questions yourself--it's so frustrating to get a filtered version of such vital news. My best to you and your Mom.
