ChiKat, I'm so glad you and the kitty got out of the fire. EEK!
The down side of being on prednisone? I am nowhere near sleepy and it is 2am (my time). And, I expect that by Sunday I will want to eat my own arm off.
Ah, yes. The joys. In my experience, it's best to take the prednisone first thing in the morning. Also, let yourself snack. Just give in. I know it's frustrating, but I've actually found that if I let myself give in to the cravings, they don't last as long.
Timelies, all! In Birmingham. Had a fairly lovely evening with the extended family. My cousin's soon-to-be wife is a doll. I couldn't be happier for the two of them!

In third grade or so, I used up a whole box of cornstarch doing some experiments on that sort of stuff from some kids' science activity book. (And also made a mess of the kitchen. But it was cool!)

The frakking gods are watching me and giggling today. After the fire Wednesday? After not being able to sleep last night due to the evil prednisone? After finally falling asleep around 6:30?
The frakking fire alarm goes off again at 8:20. I was sound asleep. Once I realized what was going on, I threw on some clothes, went to the bathroom (sorry, but some things can't wait), heard some guys in the hallway and went out to see if I really needed to evacuate before I tried to pry the very scared kitty out and shove him in his carrier again.
Turns out, no. They were inspecting the damage from Wednesday and somehow set off the alarms. Yay, no more fire! Boo, I am now wide awake. Again.
I think I'm going to go somewhere for some breakfast and then come home and do laundry. Maybe I can nap some this afternoon.
