Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I walked out with $144 in DVD's.

How many DVDs is that?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I'd never heard of it until xkcd referenced it.

And did so beautifully, I might add. Posting The Ring on YouTube is a perfect revenge for RickRolling.

I walked out with $144 in DVD's.

Please. I spent $180 on 2 pairs of shoes today. And believe me when I say that I am such a cheap bastard that, before today, $180 would have bought me AT LEAST 5 pairs of shoes. (Not counting sneakers, for which I am more than willing to pay $100 or more, because if you're going to work out, you gotta have good, supportive sneakers.)

Of course, that could explain why all my shoes tend to fall apart on me after 6 months. These new ones had better NOT.

And, after spraining the same ankle twice in the span of 6 weeks, I figure I need actual *good* shoes, and I knew that would very likely mean buying shoes that cost more than $30/pair.

(And this is a whole lot of justification for something that people do every day, isn't it? Hell, lots of women pay more than $180 for ONE pair of shoes. It's just that....*I* never have. So spending that much is both weird and exhilarating.)

14 movies, 26 DVD's, plus special features and such. So, $10/movie, roughly.

The list is in my LJ if you want to see what I got. I didn't filter it, so non-friended folk can see too.

this was my first exposure too. Now we've talked about it so much today I can't get the damn song out of my head. Luckily it's worth it to inflict snippets on my unsuspecting coworkers.

that's what I kept telling my visa card. And thankfully it believed me, because when she swiped it, the lil machine beeped quickly and approved me! It's nice to be accepted, no?

I must admit I get a little lift when the machine tells me I've been approved.

DJ, I appreciate honest ads. People's first thought is going to be "what's wrong with it?" and you address that. I may not be the right person to comment, though. I'm never very successful at selling things. I'm sorry you're having to deal with the "we don't like what you have on your property" police.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Once again, Teppy is me regarding shoe-expenditure; afaic, £15 is plenty for a pair of shoes. (Unless they're trainers.)

However, there is a company here in Bangkok that custom-makes shoes. And I find that I am monstrously tempted to take them up on this...

Mostly I want them to make me some proper Dorothy slippers. But I'm open to other suggestions?

Oh! And, crumbs, ChiKat - so glad you and the kitty are okay! Bloody hell!

Also, The Angry Flower was the funniest damn thing I've seen in WEEKS. My God. That is one pissed off looking kitty, Kristin!

So yesterday I went to this cocktail party. And initially I was going in this very cleavagey dress, but on the way down in the elevator (which is mirrors all round - I don't have a full length mirror in the house) I concluded that this was NOT the appropriate dress for the occasion. So I went back upstairs and changed. A decision which, as it turned out, was exactly right! I still had a v. nice dress, but rather longer and with cleavage of a slightly less terrifying quantity. More dignified for an early evening event at someone's house, for sure. (And I spent much of the evening talking Buffy and Firefly and suchlike with my hosts' eldest daughter, who is splendid! That was fab!)

Also, I have been offered a position on the committee of the drama group. Which I've tentatively accepted. So that's kind of cool! Really, I feel like I'm getting pretty settled here in Bangkok - and next weekend I'm going to go and watch/play my first ever D&D game, with a view to possibly getting sucked into the dice-rolling side of the force. (World of Darkness - apparently vampire-tastic.)
