I would simplify to "was placed under the counter to prevent theft."

Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
that works. thanks
But I believe it would be "its," like "He was placed under the counter to prevent his being stolen."
That's what I was wondering: does it own being stolen or is being stolen something it is. It's clear when you swap "he" for "it" that it's the former.
edit: but the note now says it was placed under the counter to prevent theft.
I need potatoes now. Do you people not understand that Saturday was the potato party and I had at least 30 different permutations of potatoes ( plus corned beef and cabbage and pie and whiskey and fernet) and that I should have no interest in potatoes.
HMOG, WHY does my back hate me? Ugh.
potato party sounds like loads of fun. I had corned beef on Saturday but no potatoes or cabbage.
sending out the kitty ma~~`
and now DH is sending links about hollandaise sauce. I'm now starving
Poor KT. This really isn't your month, is it? Mental~ma for you, and the hopes nothing else bad comes your way. Is the computer item #3 of bad for the month? Also all sorts of ~ma for lil Byron.
Al this tator tot conversation... really hating y'all. I just ate a nice 2 egg breakfast. Filled me up wonderfully. Now I got this mental hunger for tater tots that is so not needed. Grrrr. Must wait a few more hours before eating again. But I do have some left over PF Changs from last night! Yummy Ginger Chicken with Broccolli and brown rice. I was really good and ate less than half the dish last night so I could have left overs. Very proud of myself. (portion size is my biggest problem... if things are yummy, I just eat until its gone. Wants to loose the spare tire, and figured that was the best start, no?)
You guys aren't helping me stay on my salad and yogurt diet at all, are you?
