it was hard living with someone who didn't eat onions. On the other hand I'd gladly live with a vegetarian if she didn't mind me eating the occasional restaurant steak.

Vegetarian, yes. Vegan, no.
My friend J's wife is a vegan of the pickiest sort - actually, I think the picky is the heart of the veganism, in this case - and it can really be a drag sometimes coming up with something for dinner that won't leave her eating a pile of broccoli in the corner. Even if she doesn't mind that, it still kind of sucks the fun out.
I'm sure if there were a vegan who could work with my generally not-that-healthy omnivore lifestyle, that would be a vegan I could work with. Clearly I couldn't live with someone who freaked out every time I ate cheese, but neither would that person want to live with me, I assume -- I eat a lot of cheese.
I think I shall have to start an anti-vegan/vegetarianism movement.
"I don't eat vegetables! It's unethical!
After all, vegetables can't fight back."
OK, this is hilarious -- we just got an email from Kerri Strug, and my minion is freaking out. It literally didn't occur to me that this email from the Department of Justice about some budget mods was actually from the Olympic gymnast, but sure enough, it is. Apparently.
My cousin the vegan will usually bring her own stuff to microwave whenever she goes somewhere. It's almost a must for her as I imagine vegan in New Orleans is nigh impossible.
Oh, hi!
thank dog the day is almost over.

Now I have to look up her SNL appearance when I get home
One of DH's guitar friends is a Buddhist monk. Not only is he vegan - but as a monk there are no onions or hot peppers in the food ( they are supposed to cause sexual excitement, not so good in a monk) . But the woman who cooks at the monastery makes the most amazing food. So I can imagine living with a vegan, as long as they know food feeds more than the body. I've met vegans and vegetarians that didn't know much about food, and that confuses me.
