Charles Addams is the real deal. The series is a crude approximation of the cartoons, but still better than the Munsters.

I like them both, but I think The Munsters has a few things going for it that the Addamses don't, particularly because they're the Immigrant Experience writ large and weird, trying to fit into their American suburbia while remaining true to their roots. I also appreciate them because they love Marilyn and accept her exactly as she is, which a number of families I know in real life could do better with similar-in-spirit situations.
Also, they have Al Lewis and Fred Gwynne who are clearly having so much fun....
