This is why I hate today: I just sat in on a committee meeting for a committee I was not a member of, because I had recently created some documents similar to the one they are editing, and my boss thought I would make some helpful contributions. About halfway through the meeting, I thought to myself, "You know, I don't really need to be taking all these extensive editing notes, since I am just a guest at this meeting." Then, at the end of the meeting, my boss says, "Sue, can you make these changes?" Aaaaagh! At least he's lent me his notes, and I have a pretty good memory.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Turned on the TV to a discussion of uterine prolapse this morning.

Yuck. We had a cow that happened to. Very prolapsed. I had to walk behind it about 30 times one night....

Happy Birthday Noah, you big flirt! I can barely wait to meet you and make faces at you for hours.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Dylan is remarkably cute--and I love, having met both of you, being able to see flashes of amusement or amazement or irony zip across his face and say, "Hey, there goes Jess!" or "Look, it's Ethan!"

Happy, happy birthday, Noah! Happy, happy birthday, Grace! And drinks and love and awestruck admiration all around to Kat and K and Lori; under the best possible conditions, the first year is an insane amount of work, and you have all shown heroic levels of grace under terrible pressure.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

You okay, shrift?

Mostly. My allergies have made me crabby and wobbly all week, and after I had an incident with a chef's knife Tuesday night (brought to you by the exclamations "oh dear" and "that's going to bleed"), I ascertained that I was more a danger to myself than to others and ought to stay in bed.

It was a very good decision. I stand by it. Or lie, as it were.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Happy happy birthday to Grace and Noah!

Punishingly Intricate

today is the first birthday of two of the loveliest, most adorable twins I've ever been lucky enough to cuddle in pictures

What the sweetheart from Israel said! Grace & Noah, I hope your second year is as wonderful as you are unbearably cute!!!
