Damascus steel: [link]
It's made by folding and forging and folding and forging twhttp://www.powning.com/jake/commish/progress1.shtmlo different types of steel. It can be made into elaborate patterns [link] [link]
Why did we bother having an Iron Age, then?
They used up all the easily mined tin and copper, and iron was cheaper. Wrought iron is more brittle than bronze and neither keeps an edge particularly well. Then steel was developed, which was much better than both them.
I. Am. IRON MAN.
Watch out for Bronze Man. I hear he could totally take you.

Biting back on a really-o truly-o LOL because it would be too hard to explain to the coworkers...

Isn't that Doc Savage?
Having sat on the Stupidest Case Ever with no evidence but testimony, and inconsistent testimony at that, this article [link] saying that city prosecutors are dropping fewer pre-trial cases (due to better investigations supposedly) doesn't fill me with confidence. In 2006 (when I think I had the stupidest case ever) they were throwing out 1 in 3. And THAT one got through? Sheeit.
Who wants to write a letter for me?
My company is canvassing a neighborhood this weekend to gather support for a zoning variance on a building we just bought. It's been boarded up and vacant for two years and it is in a commercial district, but it's in a Named Neighborhood. We figure better the place inhabited even if it will be apartments (four at most, three if left as is) than just sitting there, forlorn and graffitied.
I'm to write a letter for each resident that is home on Saturday to sign saying they support our efforts and think the zoning board should grant us a use variance. Go! Write! I have smokey treat now.
I need a little more.
I just got (another) call asking when Homecoming is. . . I told them that the Football office hadn't told us yet.
And then she complained that it was getting LATE.
So what? WE DON'T SET THE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE.
Take it up with the Football Office, the NCAA and ESPN, people.
Whatcha need?
