You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I used to open mine up and shift all the colors one slot over so that people who borrowed my pen would get red when they wanted blue and think they were crazy.

That is awesome!

(Of course, Confusing People is my all time favorite hobby.)

The big fat 4-colored ballpoint pen with the 4 separate clicky-things on the end? I loved those.

I loved the ones with the 12 (or whatever) colors even more....

Because books.

Heh.

I had those! I loved them, but I the green was always my least favorite.

Tom always wins at life. I was going to say pay some bills and then get my hair colored. Which doesn't seem as nice now.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I don't think I'm familiar with these, but now I totally want one.

You haven't seen them? They were all the rage when I was in second or third grade. I think I recall seeing them more recently with Disney characters, but the internet isn't helping me confirm that. They were like this one: [link] , hard-sided, with the top and bottom padded. Though that picture doesn't show all the little compartments and stuff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Anyone know of a local NYC news station with good streaming video? I want to watch Spitzer resign.

"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

I find this pretty interesting, Spitzer-wise. Among other things, aren't there laws against soliciting prostitutes he should be prosecuted under? Why do we even have this law still? I suppose the answer is, it's how you make the crime federal. Anyway, I found it interesting.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I had a 12-color pen, too! And loved it!

Also, I used a manual pencil sharpener just the other week. A Hello Kitty pencil sharpener, to sharpen my Property of Jesse pencil, BTW.

bras are The. Funniest. Thing. Ever!

You should bring him over for laundry day at my grandmother's. She wears these one-piece girdle underwear situatons, and hangs them all out on the back porch to dry, which has cause trauma to many a young child.

four-colored pen: [link]

I googled and found lots of hits for the four-colored ones, but so far no 12 (or whatever) colored ones....

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I loved notebooks with black-and-white covers, because they were what Harriet used on her spy route. I also went through a long period in high school and college of using cartridge fountain pens. I thought it was very sophisticated and unique, which was helped by the fact that I tried to only use green ink. I think the sophistication was mitigated by the fact that I am left-handed and I ended up with ink smears on my hand ALL THE TIME.
