I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

JZ, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's unbelievable. My beliefery is gobsmackified. It's stuck on "They don't want JZ there anymore? How does that even work?"

I'm just going to point at what billytea said. So not a failure on your part, JZ.

Happy birthday, tommyrot!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

An awesome note from Gawker:

When CNN interviewed former U.S. Attorney Kendall Coffey about the Eliot Spitzer mess this morning, they kinda left out the bit where Coffey resigned in disgrace back in 1996 after he bit a stripper. Quoth Coffey: "This is not survivable."

I think Pareene came from Wonkette, right?

I've been thinking about it and... I strive for inscrutable at work. When I say something, I mean it, and I'm not too shy about that. But the rest of the time? I'd like to keep my own council. And personal life, personal. I'm really private. Co-workers know about my family, but that's about it. A few know about what my vacations are for. Except for my former laid-off officemate, they don't know my politics or my passions.

I have a really hard time with even annual reviews, with the "10 year plan" because it's my business, damnit! Fuck the corporation! ...even if my bosses have my best interest at heart.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

But the rest of the time? I'd like to keep my own council. And personal life, personal. I'm really private. Co-workers know about my family, but that's about it.

But what if your boss prides himself in his ability to read people, and then his pride gets hurt? Will no one think of the poor boss and his hurt pride?

Hey, what's a decent bottled bbq goop? I've got some cooked pork I want to doctor into sandwiches.

Pretty sure I freaked out my very-private first boss with my privacy... We really couldn't have a conversation outside of work issues.

We really couldn't have a conversation outside of work issues.

And this is a problem, how?

Yikes, that was a lot to catch up on.

Hooray for Allyson's new home! Yay!

Hooray for tommyrot's birthday! Yay!

Plentiful raspberries at JZ's former employers! Ptbtbtbtb!

JZ, please stop saying (and, more to the point, thinking) that you're stupid. The decisions you made, with the information you had, were good & reasonable choices. I know that dealing with crazystupid people at work can make you start to wonder if maybe it's actually you that's crazystupid, but that's part of their evil plan to spread crazystupid everywhere. Don't let them win!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

aaww, JZ.Don't be so hard on yourself -- I know you are shy ( I will never forget one of the first times we met - I was so glad Matt was there- otherwise it would have been you and me with the desperate silences ), but I also know you are like me - you just need someone to start the ball rolling. Like - hi, how was your weekend. or hi,do you know what needs to be done today? Sorry ,they missed a gem. ( and I agree with everyone that says - those that take pride int their ability to 'read' people probably can't)

As for going back - Matt did. And while there are some of the old problems and frustrations, choosing to go back has made things clearer - as in what he wants in the future , where the real bad comes from, and what is tolerable - and what really isn't.
