Woo Gracie!! ::pompoms::
I have braved the Snowpocalypse, I have groceried a wee bit (no fistfights, but it was BUSY), and now I can haz home. I thought about doing some work (cause I'm still getting paid) but f that, it took me an hour to get home!
I think I'm already regretting not getting ice cream while I was there.
Go team Gracie! Way to breathe!
Wow! That GREAT news about Grace! Wow. 9 hours a day, that's amazing.
Best news all week! Go Gracie!!!
Will the care facility continue to wean?
Yep. We met with the medical director at the care facility today and asked what her care plan is now and what's going on. They are considerably (and understandably because in their experience kids who fail [and by fail, they mean long term, not just a few days] after being off too soon usually need much higher ventilation for longer due to collapsed alveola) more conservative in their approach (hospital ICUs are way more aggressive because they have more facility throughput). So it's 9 hours a day for now, with vent support at other times. If she fares well on that, then it will be all day as tolerated, with night time vent support.
Still. It's a bunch of wait and see. I'm working hard at being happy with this right now without getting too far ahead of myself.
So, the new neighbors are all super friendly. They keep coming over and introducing themselves. There dogs are also very friendly and keep hopping the wall into our yard. Roman, the dog, is not so happy with this turn of events.
Because Gracie is off the ventilator, at least part-time.
YAY GRACIE!!! WAY TO BREATHE INDEPENDENTLY!!!!
Such good Gracie news! Whee!
