if I have the ick AND I get 6 sick days, of which I have taken exactly none, is this a good time to take a day off?
What are the reasons not to, in your book? There must be some I'm not seeing.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I don't think I am gronked from the Oscars. I think I am gronked from a body in revolt. My head is on day 3 of being all foggy and resulting in me being spaced out.
Someone please tell the people who work for me that I'm not going to chase down information for them -- if you want to go to a conference, spell out to me what it's going to cost. If you make me do it, I might accidentially on purpose forget to budget a hotel room for you.
what the hell is wrong with people. I mean, when I do that kind of thing, I do a specific budget, link to the conference website, etc. You have to make it easy for your boss to give you the money!

Er... I feel guilty when I call in sick? Also, what I don't use now I can use later, when I get the ginormous ick! Or... something...
Mostly I feel guilty. Particularly because, in contrast to San Francisco's gigantic automated system, here I have to actually talk to a guy who will then call a bunch of people individually to ask them if they want to sub tomorrow. It's a much more personal sort of thing, and you know how I hate personal things.
Is/are there any Buffista(s) who own(s) a current-generation Prius?
Tommy- I don't own one, but I drive one through zipcar quite a bit. Not sure if that helps
I am no longer a Morlock. I have been moved back up into the light. My cubicle is 3/4 unpacked. And covered in dust. I am tired and cranky and ready to go home now. And eventually I will need to figure out where the bathroom is on this floor.
I do, tommyrot, what do you need to know?

A friend of mine is out of town for 8 or 9 days - I promised her I'd drive her Prius during that time so the battery wouldn't go dead during that time. But now we're supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow tonight, so I don't relish the thought of digging her car out and driving it around and then finding a place to park if I don't have to.
So, is there a way I can check how much of a charge the battery has without starting the engine and driving it around? (I think the engine doesn't actually start until the car is moving.) Like, can't I boot up the car and check somehow on the LCD display thingie how much of a charge the battery has? 'Cuz I'm guessing odds are the car won't even need to be driven in order to maintain enough charge for the 8-ish days....
Ah, so everyone is icked, rather than gronked. Or mostly icked.
I'm ready for it to be lunchtime now.
