The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

What is even happening?

I've watched Days since birth and GH since elementary school. Honestly, right now? GH is better.

It hasn't been good overall, but it is letting Laura get on with her life. And Genie Francis is still so pretty and hasn't distorted her face with injectibles, plus she can act her way out of a paper bag.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I was very anti Days back in the day because that's what all the cool kids were watching, but with Vicent Izzary on it, I have been tempted to check it out.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I was an NBC girl - Days of our Lives, Another World, Santa Barbara (mmmm, Cruz Castillo). Genie had a brief sojourn on Days as Diana somebody, a nosy reporter. Who was sleeping with Roman Brady, who was a widower, but then his wife Marlena came back, and then they found out that he wasn't really Roman Brady because the real Roman came back, and . . .

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I still miss ATWT and GL, but I did watch Days of Our Lives from birth. Apparently one of my first words was the name of someone from the soap The Doctors. I think this is when my mother put me in nursery school instead of having my grandma watch me!

My grandmother and mother were ABC soaps diehards, so I was also an ABC soaps diehard, although I did have a brief HS flirtation with Santa Barbara because it was sooo pretty and all. Although I loved all the ABC soaps, All My Children was my absolute favorite. Erica Kane now. Erica Kane forever. Every now and again, I still try with GH because it's the sole survivor and I feel like I should, but it's only pure nostalgia that keeps me coming back. I just don't recognize any of those characters, even the ones I'm supposed to know. And some of the recasts are just really, really bad. New Carly just never sat right with me and new Jason is not even pretty. What's the point?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was ABC all the way. We could watch General Hospital after school and it had the best ridiculous over the top sci fi/espionage/conspiracy plots. Summertime meant All My Children. I only watched One Life to Live sporadically, but enough to be able to follow the story when my dorm mate got hooked on it in college and wanted to talk to someone about Vicki's journey. I was a regular on rec.arts.tv.soaps my second try at graduate school with all the posting conventions that allowed for filtration. I remember my mom watching The Doctors when I was tiny, though.

Oh my gosh, One Life to Live had so many out there storylines. Time travel to 1880s Buchanan City! The Lost City of Eterna! I mean, it was no Days/Marlena possessed by demons, but they were good for an out there storyline. I miss that era of soaps. It wasn't just OLTL and Days. The soaps used to go all the way out there! Remember the whole Ice Princess storyline on GH? I mean, my word, ABC had a whole soap about vampires living in Port Charles (and it was fucking great!) They don't make soaps like that anymore.

Thrive to spite them

I mostly watched CBS soaps but occasionally ABC. It took forever for me to watch Days of Our Lives. I have no idea how I picked the soaps I watched but Guiding Light - Beth! Phillip! Lujack! Etc

Also Young and the Restless, Capital, Bold and the Beautiful. I guess 2 of those are still on. And then I got into General Hospital.

And for awhile I knew this girl at church who confused me because she always had her Bible and was talking about being Godly but she was hooked on Loving and would recreate the stories with her Barbies.

Search for Tomorrow I'm pretty sure I watched that for a bit.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I was a Guiding Light girl in a General Hospital world, because my grandmother was a CBS watcher, and it was her TV.

I got into Y&R in HS and college because they had a ton of pretty black people on the show at a time when black people in lead roles on ABC soaps had gotten very rare over. Drucilla and Neil and Olivia and Lily were my everything for a while there. That was really the only CBS soap that I ever watched.
