Oh, that would be lovely! Gah. I miss this show. It so should be on my teevee, still. Bad break.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

Not everything Landgraf touches becomes a hit. Two recent efforts — dramas "Terriers," about two offbeat private investigators, and "Lights Out," about a heavyweight fighter, were each canceled after just one season. "The conclusion I came to was both those shows were not conceptually original enough," Landgraf said.
I'm trying to parse this in a way that does not make my head explode.
In the land of umpteen CSIs, when has not conceptually original enough been a real issue?
I think the problem is that they were too original, myself...
Maybe he meant that they weren't high-concept enough. Like, you couldn't explain what the show was about in one sentence.

Yup. Original means the marketing staff has to work at it to get the concept across to the public.
Lights Out could totally be summed up in one sentence. I'm not saying I'm going to make the best one, but it was about a prizefighter returning from retirement. That's, I think, both a decent summary and a differentiator from the rest of the market.
Terriers, that's harder to do. What do you say about two low-rent PIs that sums up the show usefully and makes people think specifically of that show?

I KNOW PUT A BIG DOG ON THE POSTER AND PUT THE TWO GUYS WAAAAAY IN THE BACKGROUND!
What do I win?
Classic blame shifting. Don't do that. You screwed the pooch. *cough*
Every time I try and get StW to watch Terriers, he jokes, "The one about the dogs, right?" Ha bloody ha.
