I know Polter-Cow (I think) had expressed concerns when it was announced the current showrunner was leaving.
I didn't even KNOW the current showrunner was leaving! LET ME EXPRESS ALL MY CONCERNS NOW.
Apparently one of my friends from work has been asked to be the new showrunner for Dexter and is leaving school as of today.
Oh, okay, so he's probably cool.
He's invited me (and ND) down to watch an episode shoot. Shiny! First good news I've gotten all month.
So cool! I didn't know you watched the show.
And yeah, we had a good talk about the rabid nature of Dexter fans.
Are we rabid? I didn't realize there was even a tangible fanbase.
Okay, now I'm going to still freak out about the showrunner change because I am change-averse.
I've been a bit timid to think of myself as a Dexter fan for fear of what that says about me.
Of course, I didn't even know the showrunner's name until I looked it up just now. But I know he did good work!
what does it mean for the future of the show when the showrunner is replaced? Does this happen often?
what does it mean for the future of the show when the showrunner is replaced?
It means the show will die a fiery death.
Which is to say, I don't think it means anything in particular other than someone else has their hands on the reins, for good or for bad.

That was me! I mentioned it a few weeks back in Premium.

For what it's worth, I was much bloodthirstier as an Angel fan than as a Dexter fan.

Aha. Well, we do look alike.
And it turns out I didn't even find the right showrunner before. It looks like he was "co-showrunner," though, according to HR. Not the creator. So that's good.
The creator, or really developer of the show, left after Season 1, I think.
