The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

I care about these characters. They are so flawed and human but I want them to somehow make it to the next day.

What Cass said has stayed with me. This pretty much sums up the show for me.

In the interim between last Wednesday and next Wednesday, I keep thinking about Katie. Brit had Hank, but Katie would be alone. I guess she has Winston, if Brit doesn't take him.

Good show. Please get a second season. And please don't let Katie to be brutally killed in the next ep, or in the second Britt will decide he want her back, a-la Tara. And I would also like a pony and a teleporter, if that's OK.

Me too, please.

Katie would be alone.

From rewatching the early episodes, I have the strong impression that Hank & Britt met through Katie. Which makes sense, given that she was a bartender. It also casts some of the interactions between them in a different light.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I can see that.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

No, wait, they gave specific backstory for how they met. Britt burgled her house. And seeing her pics and stuff and all stalkery then met her at her place of work. And when he revealed that to her (forced hand by whatshisname, the bad guy I like) she was turned on rather than mad and made him climb through the window to have sex.

I'm pretty sure I'm not making all that up. That would be a pretty convoluted thing for me to make up. I haven't seen the latest two episodes, so I don't know if that's been contravened, but that's what I thought was given as backstory.

Compassionately intolerant

That's the way I heard it.

That's all right. But we don't know how Britt and Hank met, could be that Hank drank at Katie's bar and she introduced him to Britt once they were dating.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, oh, not how Britt met Katie. How Britt met Hank. Sorry, I just misread that. Totally could be.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, that would be a whole interesting vibe, wouldn't it?

In my rhythm & blues band, we had an amazing lead guitarist who was a former alcoholic. Later on we added a percussionist...who used to be his bartender. He was a regular at her bar. So it was an interesting dynamic there.

[xposty now but oh well:] Oh yes, that's definitely how Britt met Katie. But I think that maybe Hank already knew Katie, and met Britt through her -- not the reverse (which is what I'd assumed until rewatching). It interests me because it makes Hank's position more complicated and, I dunno, just changes how I view the dynamics a bit.

Also, John Ramos/Couch Baron of TWoP set up a blog for recappage, and the first episode is up: [link]

I think I remember a scene where Britt is telling someone that when Hank was still a cop Hank busted him while he was in the act of stealing something, and that's how they met. (I think it was the episode where we first see his former co-thief, when the guy was trying to rope Britt back into the business.)
