Well, my dvr decided I only wanted to watch the last ten minutes of it. What the fucking fuck, DVR?!
'Safe'
The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!
Oh dear. Doesn't sound like it's made of win, but I realise that the pilot ep isn't always the one that seduces us. (But - y'know, it kind of should be, really. Serenity was awesome. imho. And Welcome to the Hellmouth and City of were also awesome.)
Oh, and it probably didn't help that I've been reading hard-boiled crime fiction lately, but: worst kidnappers ever.
Historically I almost never like a show from the pilot alone so I have to withhold judgment. I'll be back next Friday.
this is where i am too. Eliza and Tahmoh are very pretty. nice to see all the Jossverse names in the credits. not to mention the grr argh! guy. it's been a while.
Fay - next week's was the originally intended pilot. (Sound familiar?)
It's very odd to watch this and SCC and BSG with all the memory, identity, robot/human stuff all mixed up together.
tiggy - I agree about the credits - it was like a family reunion.

Oh, I really want this to be good. I've SO enjoyed Eliza as Faith, and in Bring it On, and she was likeable enough in what I saw of Tru Calling - I want this to be great for her. And heaven knows Tahmon is both lickable and engaging. And - JOSS SHOW, for heaven's sakes! Of course I want it to rock, and to showcase his best stuff. But I feel all nervous about it because the concept, whilst intriguing, is one that could go hideously pear-shaped.
I'm in the camp with tiggy and sumi. Nostalgia carries me a long way.

I enjoyed a few moments and I had a few moments of squick. I'm still hoping things turn out lovely.
I thought it was pretty enjoyable. It had an interesting story for the "assignment" or whatever they call them and there's still all kinds of questions about what the Dollhouse is, how it started, why do people volunteer for it, etc. I will definitely tune in for next week. Joss would have to fuck this up pretty bad for me to not like it.
With Joss' previous three shows I was in love by the end of the first episode (Hell, Buffy had me by the end of the teaser). I like Dollhouse, but it wouldn't be appointment TV based on the premiere if it were made by someone else.
