They fired Marlena! And John-who-used-to-be-Roman!
Now, now, he was never actually Roman, they just thought that he was for a while until Wayne Northrup got bored and decided that he wanted to come back.

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

Huh, I'd been seeing more of the show lately during my lunch. No, it hasn't improved at all. The cast is bloated, but I would have dumped 10 of the newer cheaper people before dumping 2 leads. Not surprisingly they didn't check with me first. I hope they give her a decent sendoff. 30+ years on the same job. Whoa.

True, but after 30 years, 10 new people probably didn't equal half of their salary.
Forget about bailing out the car industry; bail out the soap operas! I joke, but I would hate to see the whole industry disappear.
Why the fuck would you fire Dierdre Hall?
Because she was the best paid actress on the soap.
Great! Now she can do a reunion of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl!
My Sister and I dressed as Electra Woman and Dyna Girl for halloween in 1977. Nobody knew who the hell we were.
Apparently Markie Post made a 15-minute pilot to bring back the characters in 2001. It had Electra-Woman as drunken, living in a trailer park. Gee, wonder why it wasn't picked up?
En route to looking for more info on the 2001 pilot, I ran into this:
Three years after the demise of The Greatest American Hero, NBC ordered a pilot for a new version, with a female lead. Mary Ellen Stuart played "Holly Hathaway", and the original cast returned to pass the torch (and the alien costume). The series never got beyond the pilot stage, but as you can see from this clip, in a touching tribute to the first version of the show, Mary Ellen decided to keep William Katt's hairdo.
!!!
Aw, I loved Greatest American Hero back in the day. I had a teensy crush on William Katt. To this day, that cheesy theme song makes me smile.
Believe it or not, I'm walking on air...
I never saw Greatest American Hero. Will have to fix that someday. Deidre grew up just north of here and is in the area pretty often. Hard to believe she is 7 years older than me. I wish her and Drake well; they have entertained me often through the years.
