"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Thanks to insomnia last night, taxes are now done. Boy is CA cheap!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

3) he isn't saying anything that any nutritionist wouldn't tell you

And yet he spends a fair amount of column space scoffing at nutritionists and nutritional science (except, conveniently, when they agree with his thesis). I don't even remotely consider him a journalist - he's an op-ed columnist.

I voted early this morning, DH voted on the way to daycare and he and Dylan made the local news! (Channel 12 on Cablevision, NYCistas!)

Now tagless for your comfort.

I REALLY need to register to vote here. I may have missed the cutoff for the primaries but Wisconsin's is so late, the race may already be decided.

So far this morning, we've been to the pediatrician and I've ran the snowblower on the driveway. I'm exhausted and it's not even lunch time. I still have to drop Owen off at school and take Liv to the grocery.

I need a B-12 shot or something.

The cat is behind me on the chair biting my hair. I think he's gone insane.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Can someone go buy me some chocolate? Thx.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I hab a code.

At least, I hope it's just a cold, since I'm feverish, wobbly, and achy on top of the sore throat/drippy sinuses/mild earache thing. I had my flu shot, dammit.

So I'm home from work today, despite being kinda crazy busy. But I figured trying to go in would be stupid, and I'm not really in shape to get anything done anyway.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm supposed to have a noon meeting with the CEO, but last I checked, she's not here yet. So I scarfed down half a sandwich just now, in case she is somehow ready to meet, but I hate being in limbo like this.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

If any Chicago/Illinoisistas haven't voted yet and are looking for some hints as to who to vote for, here's a decent link to some voting guides, including a couple of judicial ones.

Nuts. I could have used that last week - I was lost with all the judges and other down-ticket people who I'd never even heard of. In a couple of cases I had to resort to my Who Are You People prioritizing system. (Basically - no votes for people running uncontested, then women, then least WASPY name, all of which can be trumped by a) super cool name or b) evil hand seems pulled to another choice.)

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

My cat likes to chew my hair when it's either fresh out of the pool or newly colored. She finds the scents of both chlorine and hair color fascinating and really gets into burying her nose into my head and then chewing the hair, so much so that she sometimes bites my scalp and that's when I stop her.

This is the sweetest story about voting I've read so far today. It ends with:

As I walked out the door, all the little kids were in lines waiting to filter into the building. A little Latino boy sees me come out the door and called out, "Hey lady! Whatcha doing here?" I smiled and said, "I voted today." Upon which all the little kids burst into cheers and yells. I walked away to the sound of applause.

Noah went to vote this morning with Kat and I. Conveniently right across the street from my house. He has a "I Voted" sticker on him.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
