Ignore headhunters; they're a waste of time.

Not necessarily. I know my brother (who does something to do with data libraries?...mumbly mumbly techie/management type...anyway he's at Social Security now) has used headhunters several times successfully.

Speaking of that brother. He's not at Social Security today he's at the hospital still waiting for his baby to be born. They've been in since Sunday night. Come on, Baby Niece!!!!

I was all excited because phone just rang but it was NC brother calling to see if I'd heard anything this morning.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jars, you don't live in New York City, either. You totally get a pass!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ignore headhunters; they're a waste of time.

I was going to ask his field, but I see it now. I don't think they're a waste of time. They got me my last two gigs, and when I though of marking my salary down, they wouldn't stand for it, and got me decent money. Plus they could leverage previous relationships with the companies too.

I know you all don't want my pity but I feel sorry for people who don't like vegetables. I really do. I love them so much. (I mean, it's not that I don't love other, not so healthy foods, too. I'd eat tater tots every single day if there were no negative consequences.)

database applications/dev, but he also has a background in biology and worked at Red Cross for a while

It seems like there'd be a lot of opportunities for him in Durham with all the big hospitals down there.

I know relocating is a huge stress even if it's your choice.

Oh, sorry, I don't mean everyone should always ignore headhunters. I think he should, because it seems like he's been counting on them to find a job for him, and he needs to not do that.

Do you really think he's not sending cover letters??! That's so crazy to me. I mean, granted, I mostly write for a living, but still. I would think even in techie fields a decent cover letter would go a long way.

hip deep in pie

I would think even in techie fields a decent cover letter would go a long way.

The Director of IT at my old job once told me he never read the cover letters. I think he actually said he threw them out. He's totally the type who would do that. Very impatient and down to brass tacks.

not your mom's socks.

I would think even in techie fields a decent cover letter would go a long way.

especially if some aren't writing them for whatever reason. Shows you took the time to think about the job...

... and you're not a bot.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

FWIW, a lot of people who hate vegetables as children end up liking them as adults because their mouths literally change. Some people dislike them out of habit and then discover that now they're actually tasty.

Which is reason 1,953 that its bad to make children eat things they hate. It DOES taste bad to them, they're NOT just being difficult, and you're making a simple preference a bigger deal than it needs to be.
