Indian Casino - if I can't get them straight before the 5th - no vote at all .

I've been let down by the red sudafed.
seems they took all of the drugs out of it and left the red. Hot shower w/lots of steam?
Susan - we have a lot of veg cookbooks, but the one even my red-meat-eating husband loves the best is Quick Vegetarian Pleasures. I need to buy a new one because the binding is gone on ours.
he and his wife have four daughters named Hannah, Mikaela, Eowyn, and Elliott. To me, those sounds like kids from four different families.
Dude. That is pretty weird.
I'm wondering what else I hsould get for the superbowl party. I have chex mix, cupcakes, guac, chips, carrots, salsa, wings, and beer. And possibly soda. I tasked people with bringing beer and soda. What else do I need?
Elisha and ARCHIBALD? And Peyton? Good lord.
I read that article on Michael Vick's dogs, and was torn between being a puddle of "AWWWW!" and thinking "$900K is a lot of money to spend on some dogs, dang"
I think in my crazy ideal world, Obama would be prez, and all pretty nice-speechifying figurehead, and Clinton would be all Dick Cheney-esque VP, being the power behind the scenes and not afraid of people being mad at her. And then if he (godforbid) got assassinated, she would do a whole LBJ "you have to pass this because he would have wanted this law!" thing.

Pizza. Or chili. I mean, not that you need them, but those are the only things you're missing.
You know Kat, I have all these photos of the kids I'm working into the scrapbook, and I think I need some newer photos to contrast against the itty baby ones.
And then I want to mail a pic of Gracie smiling to the NICU at CHLA with the caption, "screw you, chowderheads!" caption.
Bedtime reading with Matilda and Emmett. Matilda at 16 months is wearing pajamas that Casper outgrew in six.
Matilda is pleased with her belly.

But she's gotten huge in the five weeks since I've seen her!
I, too have been let down by red sudafed, even though I have to show my liscense to purchase it! But it does not make my nose stop running!
I just donated to the organization taking care of Vick's dogs. They take care of all kinds of abused animals. I'm all PMSy and cried like a baby.
I often feel bad that I feel a more visceral anger toward those who abuse pet animals, than say people who murder adults I don't know, but the thing is that usually the person who abuses the snimal is the one that made it a pet in the first place! And the animal didn't ask to be their pet!
Also, I have just come to the realization that I have come to hate sewing not because I really find it hateful, but because I have to do it alone in a crappy place for, like 12 hours when I am doing it. If I were sewing something for myself and I could work like 2 hours on a weekend day, I would probably like it. Ah well, I guess that is why I get paid for it.
Californians, have any of you waded through the Indian Gaming Propositions?
Not in detail, but basically they want to expand the number of slot machines they're licensed to have. In order to do that, the state has to approve it; in return, the state gets a bunch more money from each of those tribes.
My position, FWIW: I voted against them. These propositions are privileging four particular individual tribes, which are already very successful in the casino arena -- anyone in LA has likely driven past the Morongo Casino out on I-10, for instance -- and the only advantage to the state is more cash flow.
Which is not an insignificant advantage, true. This is not a question about sovereignty or giving poverty-stricken tribes an income stream. These are among the richest tribes in the state already.
I voted for Measure 5, back in 1998 or whenever, because yeah, the tribes do and did need something. But this? It's not going to make a difference to the tribes who really need it, and gambling itself is a questionable way to raise money anyway, as far as I'm concerned: it's taking money from people on fixed incomes and people who can't afford to lose it.
IOPoliticalNews, that "Fired Up, Ready to Go" vid, with the choir? Gave me chills. As did the "Yes We Can" vid. Entertainingly, I recognized very few of the faces except for wassname, "Michael" from LOST.
I'll try the library, Plei. I do have the Moosewood Cookbook, though glancing through it, it seems like there are way too many recipes that take more than an hour to work with my lifestyle--my cooking runs to Mark Bittman and the less fussy end of Rachael Ray, because it's *fast*.
I was vegetarian for a number of years and still mostly cooked that way until I discovered Sous Kitchen. The only Moosewood Cookbook I've liked was "Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home". I've given away the others I had, but that one has some favorite standbys. And the recipes are simple and fast. I've been fairly disappointed with Deborah Madison's books--too many ingredients for too little oompf.
I like Bittman too and just got "How to Cook Everything Vegetarian". Since it's new, there is a probably a pretty long wait for it via the library though. I haven't yet tried anything yet (as I also got Jamie Oliver's latest) but it looks good.
