Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Yeah, in the 365 photo over yonder.
Then what would have triggered this?
I haven't a clue. I think 1099 is for anything that isn't wages. So maybe then the issue is the source of the income? A book advance = freelance author in their collective minds? I have no clue.
1099 covers a lot of stuff (like game show winnings!). Maybe it was the payor that tipped them off. A publisher filing a 1099 may be an automatic notice to its authors.
x-post.
That is what it is, Liese. And it's pretty sleepable in for me, at 5'8 and generally picky about lying stretched out.
But do authors normally have to register? Allyson--ask Hec or Deb if they have. I guess, if they do, that the party issuing the 1099 might be the trigger.
Blargh. I look at other peoples Project 365 photos and think that I have more than 300 left to go and so little imagination. I can't just keep taking pictures of me sitting in different bits of my apartment. And I'd also like them to be less "Oh! Look at me!" but can't quite see how that's possible, given the premise.

No, I've never had to register or get a license as a corporation or company or anything. And I've been getting advances and royalty checks and freelance checks for about 8 years.
They're wrong. They often are and depend on people freaking out about their taxes instead of fighting them. You have to look at the state budget deficit and know that somebody high up is just saying "Hit everybody you can hit. Most will roll over. Find an excuse."
Allyson when I did independent contractor work for USC, I had to file paperwork with the city (it's a city response, yes, not a state?) to get some sort of certificate. It was free though. And I never did it.
I hope Noah and ita both get effective and pleasant medical care. I hope Allyson figures out WTF.

Me to!
Also, I have another work pet peeve. We have tuition reimbursement for no-credit classes. When people register for classes they tend not to pay me. So I contact them, and they tell me they don't have to pay, because they get reimbursement. Um...
Feel-better-ma to Noah & seconding the hopes that it's bacterial & will clear up with meds in a few days.
Antibiotics wreaked havoc on D's sleep patterns and digestive system - here's hoping Noah has an easier time with them! (Yogurt & applesauce were our friends, and that's all I'll say.)
