I, for one, wasn't looking forward to starting my day with a slaughter. Which, really, just goes to show how much I've grown

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You could go for a hairless animal.

A hairless cat, for example.

I am amazed at how much fur my cat has. She's actually very tiny, but she looks normal-sized from all the fur....

A biofuel startup in Illinois can make ethanol from just about anything organic for less than $1 per gallon, and it wouldn't interfere with food supplies, company officials said.

Guess we'll see if they can scale the process up. I think that is the problem with using bacteria to produce butanol, it works on a small scale but doesn't scale yet. BP is working on making butanol, so hopefully something will come out of that. Butanol is a lot better fuel than ethanol.

Corn is about the worst choice for making ethanol, from efficiency, environmental, just about every perspective.

Couldn't agree more. The push for corn ethanol is a bit of a sham.

I wonder if one could make ethanol from dog and cat fur....

eta: Or dust bunnies.

I saw this head line this morning and my mind immediately assumed that 'Md.' was an abbreviation for 'Mad' which would have been awesome.

Md. Scientists Build Bacterial Chromosome

But alas, the 'Md.' stands for Maryland. Although Maryland is where the majority of mad scientists come from, the scientists in question appear to just be normally awesome.

The push for corn ethanol is a bit of a sham.

A bit?

A bit?

Good point, it's more of a total and complete sham.

But is it a yam sham?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Ugh. I cannot find my umbrella. Don't wanna go to work. Wanna stay home and sip hot cocoa. Also, need some no mudslidema from griffith park.

Bwah! I'll have to remember to tell that to all my scientist friends here!
